What we discussed:
This Tuesday we talked about where everyone is with their scripts. Some of you feel you are in a good place and some feel like you need a little more work on it. Once Bob give you the greenlight (give the OK to move forward with a project), your next step is cast for your film.
We talked about writing a casting call (a 1-2 line sentence that gives a quick description of what your film is about) and where to post them (check the RESOURCES forum for those sites as well as an example of how to write a casting call). When you write your descriptions, make sure you are specific about what you're looking for, but not TOO specific where you limit the amount of potential actors. For example, if your lead male is a 25 year old guy from the Bronx, you might want to say, "lead male: early to mid-20's, Caucasian, born and raised in the Bronx with a tough as nails attitude and the physicality to back it up." You want to be specific enough so that the actor looking at the post will be excited about playing the part and they'll get an idea whether or not they are physically and mentally capable of taking on the role.
Where are we with the class so far:
-FIRST AND FOREMOST: SCRIPTS
Everyone for the most part has showed Bob their scripts. Some of you are happy with where you are and some are not. If you are having issues with it, make sure you come see Bob so he can help push you in the right direction. For those of you that are just about there, get in contact with Bob to get the little details worked out so you can get the greenlight.
-Second: CASTING CALL
Once Bob gives you the greenlight, you can start writing your synopsis and casting call. It MUST be sent to Bob before you start posting it. Bob will help make sure it's written correctly and that it's not too "wordy."
What's due for next week:
Everyone should be done with their scripts, for the most part, and Bob should have it. If he gives you the ok, start writing your casting call and bring it to class on Tuesday.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, email Joe, Bob or myself.
